Location:
Ulladulla, NSW on Yuin Country
Our mission:
To work together as an integrated movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous people side by side to better support local First Nations initiatives.
What we do:
In our first year, Walking Together in the Milton Ulladulla District has run:
Day of Mourning education stalls: On 26th January 2024, coinciding with Mollymook Beach Australia Day markets, our non-Indigenous volunteers ran the inaugural Day of Mourning education stall to build empathy and understanding in our local community.
Aboriginal Studies academic support: Collaborating with passionate local teachers to support Aboriginal Studies students with their HSC Major Works, in a two-way learning model.
The Ulladulla / Ngulla NAIDOC Festival alongside the Ulladulla Local Aboriginal Land Council: Supporting the administration and volunteering needed to have a local NAIDOC Festival, working together with many community groups and individuals. We are committed to ensuring this festival is sustained every year. The feedback from community was so positive; this joyful community is much needed here.
And we’ve been working with Wandarma Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) to bring community together, and with Uncle Vic Channell on documenting his vision for the future at the local level.
Walking Together in the Milton Ulladulla District (MUD) is part of the Shoalhaven Walking Together Alliance Inc.
