Who are we:
We are an incorporated association formed from supporters of the Yes23 campaign in 2023. Having been devastated by the very low community support for the referendum in our electorate (Calare) we decided to continue meeting and to strive towards making Orange and surrounds a community in which Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians feel safe and live well together.
What we do:
Our aims are to:
• engage with, listen to and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• provide information and educational opportunities for our members and the local community about Indigenous history, culture and current issues
• collaborate as advocates, volunteers and supporters of local Aboriginal organisations, services and businesses
• support local, state and national campaigns and other initiatives that are initiated by or are in partnership with Indigenous-led organizations.
Anyone can request to be on our emailing list and is welcome to attend our meetings and receive our newsletter and information about meetings and events. Financial members pay an annual subscription of $10 and are eligible to vote at meetings and to be on the management committee of Orange Together Inc.
When we meet:
2.00pm till 4.00pm every 3rd Sunday of the month (excluding January and December) at Ngulayay Ngarang Seniors Village Hub, 77 Kite Street (access via Woolworths car park). We have guest speakers and engaging discussions about Indigenous issues and how our group can become involved in working together to bring about positive change.
