Who we are:
Noosa First Nations Allies is a voluntary not-for-profit community organisation working for social, economic, cultural and environmental justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Noosa region, Queensland, and across Australia.
Launched in 2023 as Noosa for Yes, we have expanded on our original focus of achieving a Yes vote in the Voice referendum, to continue to advocate for First Nations peoples’ rights.
Our vision is to see social, economic, cultural and environmental justice and self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the Noosa region, Queensland and across Australia, in a culture of truth-telling, listening to understand and healing.
We stand in solidarity with the Kabi Kabi and Gubbi Gubbi peoples, the traditional owners of the unceded land on which we operate.
We support First Nations communities to attain human rights and self-determination, to respect sovereignty and support healthy Country, communities and culture.
We are committed to truth-telling, treaty-making processes and anti-racism education, awareness and action to more effectively achieve respect, fairness, tolerance, community connection and equity of opportunity for all.
What we do:
We focus our work in three areas:
- Awareness raising: Raising awareness of issues affecting social, economic and environmental justice for First Nations people.
- Advocacy: Advocating for improved outcomes in policy and laws, support structures and First Nations and non-Indigenous community partnerships.
- Community engagement and education: Promoting community engagement, truth-telling, education and action.
