First Nations Allies – Sydney North

Who are we:

A group of active community members interested in walking with First Nations people for truth-telling, rights and reconciliation.

Activities include:

• Quarterly online Lunch & Learn sessions led by group members and featuring guest speakers from the broader community. Previous sessions have focused on native title and land rights, community truth-telling, raising the minimum age of criminal responsibility, and the Freedom Rides.
• Aboriginal Heritage Walks exploring and learning about the local area in collaboration with and led by the Aboriginal Heritage Office, Freshwater.
• Book Club meets quarterly to discuss books by First Nations authors such as Thomas Mayo, Tara June Winch, Melissa Lucashenko and Stan Grant.
