Who we are:
ANTaR Armidale brings together Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in Armidale and surrounding areas. Our main aims are:
- to facilitate opportunities for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in our region to connect and share experiences, viewpoints and friendships.
- to promote the achievements of the local Aboriginal community (especially through our newsletter).
- to promote recognition, respect and rights for Australia’s first people.
- to advocate for equality and justice for Aboriginal people, e.g. through letters, submissions and meetings with policy and decision makers on issues such as Raise the Age.
What we do:
Annual Reconciliation Bridge Walk on Sunday of Reconciliation Week. Newsletter: usually 3 times a year, since late 1990s. Film and discussion nights co-sponsored with local Aboriginal groups. Active participation in and support of events organised by local Aboriginal groups.
When we meet:
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month (except January) at 5:00pm in the Garden Room at Kent House, 114 Faulkner Street.
