Who we are:
ANTaR Inner West is a group of Sydney residents working together to promote awareness of what is happening to Australia’s First Nations peoples, and to respond by building a more just society for the benefit of all Australians.
ANTaR Inner West (formed in 1998) was previously ANTaR Lowe Action Group in Sydney’s inner west suburbs of Ashfield, Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay, which then comprised the federal electorate of Lowe.
ANTaR Inner West walks side by side with First Nations people in pursuit of Voice, Treaty and Truth.
We are members of Reconciliation NSW and ANTaR National.
What we do:
Have and will continue to develop ‘New Citizen’ leaflets in conjunction with our Councils to be included in the package that people gaining citizenship are given. These sketch a very brief history of First Nations people of Australia.
Working to develop a Dual Name map of our local area to encourage, by distribution, the usage and knowledge of First Nations place names.
Worked to support the 2024 Voice Referendum, including a 300+ public meeting in Rhodes.
Participate in Reconciliation NSW and ANTaR National events and influence campaigns.
Have previously shown films by First Nations directors and producers.
When we meet:
We currently meet at Five Dock Library every second month on the last Monday in the month.
