Who we are:
The Aboriginal Support Group – Manly Warringah Pittwater is a not-for-profit organisation on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. We are committed to promoting an understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal people in Manly, Warringah and Pittwater and Aboriginal cultures through education and community connections. We aim to work towards reconciliation through truth-telling, sharing culture and developing a strong local community.
What we do:
Our group organises regular information nights for our local community that feature guest speakers, films and discussions about a range of topics related to Aboriginal culture and history. We also host community events to mark significant dates on the Aboriginal calendar, including Sorry Day and NAIDOC Week. We have a quarterly magazine called the Elimatta that invites all supporters into the triumphs and struggles of First Nations lives through awareness raising of contemporary issues, news, history and stories. We use our funds and donations to support local Aboriginal people and organisations, and support larger Indigenous projects and initiatives that reach across Australia.
